Guzhuang Site

The Guzhuang Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Taikang County.

The Guzhuang Site is located 300 meters northeast of Guzhuang Village, Matou Town, in the northeastern part of Taikang County. It covers an area of approximately 15,000 square meters. In 1989, the People's Government of Taikang County designated it as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit.

At the northern end of the site, there is a rammed earth platform covering an area of 400 square meters, standing 2 meters high with rammed layers 10–12 centimeters thick, which locals call "Lao Gusu." According to local legend, it is the corner of the ancient city of Tangli City. Land deeds kept by villagers of Guzhuang Village also mention the phrase "Tangli City corner." Local residents have reported finding dozens of bronze arrowheads while digging for sand gravel on the mound.

In 1978, the Luoyang Work Team of the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, conducted an investigation here and confirmed it to be a Longshan Culture and Shang-Zhou period site. During the 1984 cultural relics survey, only rope-patterned roof tiles, plain tiles from the Warring States period, and one piece of pottery from the Spring and Autumn period were collected.

Current condition: well preserved.

Protected area: The core protected zone is defined with the marker on Lao Gusu as the coordinate point, extending 60 meters east and west, 26 meters north to the road edge, and 224 meters south. The general protected zone extends 30 meters outward from the boundary of the core zone.

Matou Town: Located at the junction of two cities (Zhoukou and Shangqiu) and three counties (Taikang, Suixian, and Zhecheng), Matou Town in Taikang County governs 55 administrative villages, 137 natural villages, has 102,000 mu of arable land, and a population of 84,000. In 2001, the town’s total industrial and agricultural output value reached 460 million yuan, fiscal revenue was 3.842 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 1,998 yuan.
