Wanlou Battle Martyrs' Monument

The Wanlou Battle Martyrs' Monument is located in Wanlou Village, Peiqiao Township, Yongcheng City.

The Wanlou Battle was an engagement fought during the anti-Kuomintang diehard struggle in the Yu-Wan-Su Anti-Japanese Base Area. On April 6, 1941, two companies of the First Battalion of the 34th Regiment of the 12th Brigade of the New Fourth Army's 4th Division were besieged by Japanese, puppet, and diehard forces at Wanlou in Peiqiao. The officers and soldiers of the participating First Battalion, with fearless sacrifice, repelled repeated enemy attacks, accomplished the arduous task of blocking the pursuing diehard forces and covering the main force’s relocation. The majority of the officers and soldiers, from the battalion commander down, died heroically, composing a glorious chapter.

To commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Wanlou Battle, the People's Government of Yongcheng City built the Wanlou Battle Martyrs' Monument in the northern part of Wanlou Village in 1990.
