Although the menu looks extensive, the actual variety isn’t huge. For soup noodles, they offer knife-cut noodles, ramen, and thin rice noodles; stir-fried options include noodles, rice cakes, flatbreads, fried rice, plus dumplings and stir-fried greens.

Since the restaurant is called Ripin Knife-Cut Noodles, that tells us we absolutely must order the knife-cut noodles. Laok got the knife-cut noodles with hot and sour soup. He said the noodles were good, and the toppings were quite generous.

The only slight letdown was the dumplings — their wrappers were a bit thick, and the filling a bit dry. Maybe because Meiji had just eaten Xiao Mama’s dumplings, which cost 10 dollars each and were amazing, her standards for dumplings had gone way up. In the end, she tossed all her dumplings into Laok’s hot and sour soup to make DIY sour-and-spicy soup dumplings, since the thickened soup helped moisten the otherwise dry dumplings.
