Dazhangzhuang Mosque is a cultural tourism attraction.

Dazhangzhuang Mosque is located in Dazhangzhuang Village, Hujixiang Hui Ethnic Township, Minquan County. It dates back to the Qing Dynasty. Dazhangzhuang Mosque is among the seventh batch of cultural heritage protection units in Henan Province.

According to the “Inscription on the Reconstruction of the Mosque”: Dazhangzhuang Mosque “was first built in the first year of the Chenghua reign of the Ming Dynasty (1465), with three thatched rooms constructed.” “By the 22nd year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1817), the local Muslim community pooled resources and savings to expand the mosque.” The newly expanded mosque covered an area of 12 mu, with its foundation 3 meters above ground level. It included a main gate, a secondary gate, side gates on both sides, a screen wall, lecture halls in the north and south, ablution facilities, prayer hall, moon-viewing tower, scripture depository, and reception hall, totaling 24 rooms. After 1957, due to the influence of ultra-leftist policies, the mosque suffered damage and most of its cultural relics were lost. In 1981, the mosque reopened, and later, through fundraising efforts by the local Muslim community, it was renovated.

Size of the Mosque

The new mosque currently covers an area of 3 mu, with three prayer halls, five northern lecture rooms, three southern rooms, seven eastern rooms, and one main gate.

Architectural Style

The architectural style is classical Chinese palace-style, featuring projecting eaves, carved beams and painted rafters, giving it an ancient and solemn yet majestic appearance. The courtyard is paved with square bricks, adorned with lush ancient cypresses and flowers.

Hujixiang Hui Ethnic Township: Hujixiang Hui Ethnic Township is located 20 kilometers northeast of Minquan County, situated along the old course of the Yellow River. It is an ethnic minority township approved and established by the provincial government in 1985. The township governs 13 administrative villages and 35 natural villages, with a total population of 18,000 and 23,900 mu of arable land. The area enjoys convenient transportation, beautiful scenery, a pleasant climate, fertile soil, and vast low-lying areas along the river, offering excellent irrigation conditions. It is one of the key townships supported for development by the Henan Provincial People's Government.
