Wanggongzhuang Cultural Tourism Scenic Area is located in Wanggongzhuang Village, Beiguan Town, Minquan County.

The Wanggongzhuang Cultural Tourism Scenic Area has been named a National AAA-level Tourist Attraction. Minquan’s Wanggongzhuang Village, known as the “No. 1 Tiger Painting Village in China,” is situated in Beiguan Town, Minquan County, Henan Province. It lies along the old course of the Yellow River at the junction of Henan and Shandong provinces, approximately 15 kilometers east of the former residence site of Zhuangzi, the great master of philosophy and literature, and 21 kilometers west of the hometown of Jiang Yan, a literary figure of the Southern Dynasties. The area boasts convenient transportation.

The village has a total of 1,377 mu of arable land and a population of 1,366, among whom 400 are engaged in the painting industry. It is common to find couples, parent-child pairs, sisters, and even three generations of a family painting together. They mainly specialize in meticulous-style tiger paintings, and also create artworks featuring figures, flowers and birds, landscapes, and more, offering a wide variety. The painting trade has extended to involve thousands of farmers across two provinces and three counties in the surrounding areas, either practicing or dealing in peasant paintings. This has formed a community of folk painters with Wanggongzhuang as the leading hub. Annually, they produce over 20,000 paintings, generating an output value of more than 6 million yuan. Approximately 20% of these paintings are exported to overseas markets such as Singapore and Japan each year.

Peasant painting in Wanggongzhuang Village began in 1956. Representative figures such as Xiao Yanqing, Wang Jianmin, Wang Peishuang, and Wang Peizhen have continuously strived to explore the art of painting while innovating. Their tiger artworks not only embody the nobility of the “king of beasts” but also endow the tigers with humanized traits and rich cultural meanings, forming the unique style known as “Minquan Tigers.”
