The Mingguang Temple Scenic Area in Mengshan is located in a secluded valley to the northwest of Guimengding, the main peak of Mengshan Mountain, covering an area of approximately 40 square kilometers. The area includes over 40,000 acres of forest, with wild mountain forests accounting for 72.6% of the coverage. There are more than 400 species (types) of high-quality trees, including 320 ancient trees that are over a thousand years old. The mountain springs are crystal clear and sweet-tasting, the air is moist and fresh, making it a natural "oxygen bar." Here, the sky is blue, the water is clear, the forests are dense, and the rocks are uniquely shaped. It has long been known as a "sacred Buddhist site and a secret realm for Zen meditation."

Mysterious and profound, with incense smoke drifting endlessly; among the famous mountains and secluded valleys, where peaks compete in beauty, monks often choose to reside. Built during the Yuan Dynasty, "Mingguang Temple" is situated here and boasts a history of nearly a thousand years. According to historical records, during the Ming Dynasty, the respected nun Ming Guang, head nun of Shangyuan Nunnery, passed away. To commemorate her virtuous life, people renamed Shangyuan Nunnery as Mingguang Temple, which later came to be known as "Mingguang Temple."
