Former Residence of Martyr Lu Zhongying

Located in Wangxianpu Village, Taibaizhuang Subdistrict, this is the former residence of Lu Zhongying, one of the notable underground work leaders of our Party and a martyr. It has been designated as a “Revolutionary Tradition Education Base for Primary and Secondary School Students” by the Taibaizhuang Subdistrict Education Management Office.

In 1985, the Civil Affairs Bureau of Changyi County allocated 5,000 yuan to renovate Lu Zhongying’s former residence, establishing the Martyr Lu Zhongying Memorial Hall. The main building consists of five rooms with white stone foundations, red brick walls, a red-tiled roof, and glass windows and doors. The western three rooms serve as exhibition halls. Above the main entrance hangs a plaque inscribed with “Martyr Lu Zhongying Memorial Hall,” written by Zhou Gucheng, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. Inside, a Chun Tai table used by the martyr during his lifetime is placed against the north wall. On the table are a portrait of Lu Zhongying and photos of his wife Zhang Yumin and son Lu Darong. In front of the portrait is a glass case containing a piece of Yuhuashi (rain flower stone) gifted to Lu Darong by teachers and students of Xiaolingwei Central Primary School in Nanjing.

Next to the Chun Tai table are displayed an old leather suitcase and a wooden box used by the martyr. The leather suitcase is brown, measuring 60 cm in length, 40 cm in width, and 30 cm in height. On top of the suitcase lies a black woolen vest worn by the martyr. To the left of the Chun Tai table is an iron double bed. On the east side, there is an iron heating stove along with a desk lamp, electric fan, pen holder, and other items—all objects used by the martyr while conducting underground Party work in Shanghai.

This site has long served as a local base for revolutionary tradition education. Many people come here to pay tribute to the revolutionary martyrs, commemorate the heroic deeds of Comrade Lu Zhongying, and personally reflect on the hard-won nature of our happy lives today.
