Caoxian Cave

Caoxian Cave is located in Caojiayu Village, about 30 kilometers northwest of Mancheng County. Legend has it that this is where Cao Guojiu, one of the Eight Immortals, cultivated Taoism and attained immortality—hence the name. The cave stretches 350 meters from north to south, reaches a maximum width of 30 meters from east to west, and is 8 meters at its highest point. It is a rare large limestone karst cave in North China. The entire cave wall is adorned with unevenly distributed stalactites of various sizes, creating a spectacular sight; the cave ceiling has holes of varying sizes and shapes that connect with the outside, ensuring the air inside remains fresh. The cave enjoys a mild climate year-round, being warm in winter and cool in summer. It boasts numerous scenic spots, including the Jade Pillar, Pig Immortal, Dragon Stone Tablet, Immortals’ Stage, Little Heavenly River, and Coiled Dragon, all of which carry strong mythological themes. Inside the cave, statues of the Eight Immortals are displayed along with modern lighting and electrical amenities, enhancing its mystical ambiance.
