The annual Golden Shower Tree blossom season lights up the city in a riot of colors, with its golden bell-like racemes bursting into brilliant bloom, creating a dazzling "golden rain" that ushers in the romantic vibes of southern Taiwan’s summer.

The Golden Shower Trees in Kaohsiung are in full bloom along roads around the Kaohsiung Cultural Center, as well as on Guanghua Road, Heping Road (from Sanchong Road to Wufu Road), Nanjing Road, Zhongshan 3rd Road (from Xinguang Road to Guanghua Road), Jiouru 4th Road (from Zuoying Roundabout to Qinghai Road Bridge), National Kaohsiung University Road, Yuanzhong Road, and Cuihua Road. The racemes, as if soaked with nutrients, bloom vigorously, making the golden city a breathtaking sight.

The Golden Shower Tree, a deciduous large tree of the Caesalpinia family, also known as Golden Rain, Golden Shower, or Persian Broom, is native to Southeast and South Asia. After being introduced to Taiwan, it has become commonly used as a street tree and ornamental tree in parks. Every winter, the Golden Shower Tree sheds most of its leaves, leaving bare branches and gradually ripening fruits. By late spring to early summer, the leaves begin to unfold, and when the golden petals gently fall, they resemble fluttering butterflies, filling the air with surprise and romance.
