The annual Golden Shower Tree flowering season lights up the city in vibrant colors. Cascading clusters of golden, bell-like inflorescences burst into brilliant bloom, creating a dazzling "golden rain" that ushers in the romantic vibes of southern Taiwan’s summer.

The Golden Shower Trees in Kaohsiung are in full bloom along roads around the Kaohsiung Cultural Center, as well as Guanghua Road, Heping Road (from Sanchong Road to Wufu Road), Nanjing Road, Zhongshan 3rd Road (from Xinguang Road to Guanghua Road), Jiouru 4th Road (from Zuoying Roundabout to Qinghai Road Bridge), National Kaohsiung University Road, Yuanzhong Road, and Cuilu Road. The clusters of blossoms, as if soaked with nutrients, bloom vigorously, creating breathtaking golden beauty across the city.

The Golden Shower Tree, belonging to the Caesalpinioideae subfamily, is a deciduous large tree. Also known as Golden Rain, Golden Shower, or Persian Silk Tree, it is native to Southeast and South Asia. After being introduced to Taiwan, it has become commonly used as a street tree and ornamental park tree. Every winter, the Golden Shower Tree sheds most of its leaves, leaving bare branches and gradually ripening fruit. By late spring to early summer, the leaves begin to unfold, and when the golden petals gently fall, they resemble fluttering butterflies, filling the air with surprise and romance.
