The Yuangzhuang Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Shang to Zhou

The Yuangzhuang Site is located in Yuangzhuang Village, Yuangzhuang Township, approximately twelve li northeast of Mancheng County, Baoding City. It is a historical and cultural relic from the Shang to Zhou dynasties, covering areas such as the highlands west of Yuangzhuang Village, commonly known as "South City" and "North City," as well as the highlands southeast of the village, known as "South Horse Pen" and "North Horse Pen." The site is approximately 1000 meters long from east to west and 700 meters long from north to south. The surrounding strata of the site contain around 3–4 meters of accumulated cultural layers, along with numerous ash pits, hearths, earth mounds, and rammed earth traces. The site is divided into eastern and western zones: the eastern zone includes the South and North Horse Pens, while the western zone includes the South and North Cities.

From January 1982 to December 1983, the Hebei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics, in collaboration with the Baoding Regional Cultural Relics Management Office and the Mancheng County Cultural Center, conducted archaeological surveys and initial excavations in this area. A large number of artifacts were found scattered across the surface and cliff edges of the site, primarily pottery, followed by stone tools, bone and horn implements, clam shells, and animal bones. The pottery is mainly gray pottery, made using wheel throwing or a combination of wheel and mold techniques. The decorative patterns on the pottery are predominantly coarse cord marks, along with string patterns, stacked patterns, and others. The main types of pottery include tripods, cauldrons, jars, and bean pots. The discovery of the Yuangzhuang Site provides important evidence for the study of the local historical and cultural development. In May 2013, it was designated as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.

Yuangzhuang Village: Yuangzhuang Village is located 5 kilometers northeast of Mancheng County and 5 kilometers from the township government seat. The village has 3,023 mu of cultivated land, with a total of 1,220 households, 3,430 residents, 117 Party members, and 7 village cadres.
