Zibo People's Park

Zibo People's Park was established in 1960 and underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2003. By applying modern environmental design concepts and various eco-friendly building materials, and based on the natural ecological conditions and existing vegetation, the park was transformed into an open urban forest park, providing a great recreational space for both local residents and visitors.

The entire renovation project started in October 2002, took eight months to complete, and involved a total investment of 40 million yuan. It officially reopened on July 1, 2003. The newly renovated park, with its pleasant environment and rich, diverse landscaping, has captivated both locals and tourists. People's Park has not only become one of Zibo’s iconic landmarks but also a popular destination for leisure and recreation.

The renovated Zibo People's Park adopts an open management approach, covering a total area of 260,000 square meters, including 180,000 square meters of green space, 38,000 square meters of lake area, and 160,000 square meters of lawn. The park features 148 species of trees, including more than 30 rare varieties, as well as 365,000 shrubs and bushes, among which 19,100 are large trees. There are three plazas in the park—east, south, and north—totaling 13,360 square meters. The east plaza serves as the main scenic viewpoint of the park, where three relief walls themed “Light of the City” serve as the highlight of the renovation. The park also includes several themed areas such as the Children’s Fun Garden, Water Fun Garden, and Bird Fun Island. In 2003, Zibo People's Park was awarded China’s highest honor—the “China Habitat Environment Example Award.” Among the 27 winning projects nationwide, Zibo People's Park was the only park project to receive the recognition.
