New construction at Sichongxi Hot Springs in Pingtung; two areas temporarily closed

The “2015 Sichongxi Hot Springs Festival” is undergoing new construction, with two areas to be temporarily closed and fenced off. Facilities at the South Garden concession stand will be constructed and the public toilets in the North Garden will be upgraded. These two areas will be closed starting March 23 to ensure visitor safety.

Sichongxi Hot Springs Park was built in the 22nd year of the Republic of China. Visitors can climb to the top via a walking trail and enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Hengchun Peninsula. Though once neglected and losing its charm over the years, the park has gradually been revitalized. In conjunction with the annual Hot Springs Festival, landscape art featuring historical allusions and themed installations such as the Hot Springs Baby have been added to attract more tourists to the area.

The Pingtung County Tourism and Communications Department stated that starting March 23, renovation work on the North Garden public toilets and the construction of a new concession area in the South Garden will commence. To accommodate the construction, these two areas will be temporarily closed and fenced off. The newly completed service facilities are expected to greatly enhance the comfort and convenience of visiting Sichongxi Hot Springs Park after their completion in October this year, giving a boost to local tourism.
