Thousand-Layer Locust Tree

The "Thousand-Layer Locust Tree" was originally an ancient Chinese scholar tree, located on the North-South Main Street of Yaozhan Town, Dezhou. It is said that over the generations, local government offices posted notices on the tree trunk, layer upon layer, which is why locals call it the "Thousand-Layer Locust Tree." The ancient tree has a trunk circumference of about 260 centimeters, a trunk height of 400 centimeters, an overall height of about 8 meters, and a crown diameter of approximately 11 meters. One southwest-facing dead branch resembles a "dragon head," with a remarkably lifelike mouth. There are many legends about this ancient tree, including one that says after the death of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, his funeral carriage was parked under the tree, and to this day, there are no mosquitoes or flies in the summer—evidence of the tree’s great age.
