Taipei Has Its Own Long Bond Avenue Too — A Must-Visit Hotspot for Stunning Rice Fields

To enjoy the vast, sweeping views of rice paddies, besides visiting Long Bond Avenue in Taitung, Taipei also has its own expansive fields of golden waves. The Guandu Plain in Beitou District is home to Taipei’s last large expanse of rice fields, spanning more than 200 hectares. The fields are harvested twice a year, with the best time for photography being from late June to early July.

The Guandu Plain features vast expanses of rice fields and is one of the few large green spaces in the rapidly urbanizing Taipei Basin. It also boasts rich wetland ecology, serving as the “lungs of the city.”

From June to July each year, you can witness vast fields of golden rice waves without any obstructions from utility poles. Paired with the distant view of Guanyin Mountain and stunning sunset hues, it resembles Taipei’s version of Long Bond Avenue.

To capture the combination of Guandu Plain’s rice fields and the sunset over Guanyin Mountain, head to the vicinity of Lane 257, Section 2, Zhongyang North Road, near Fuxinggang MRT Station. For a simpler rice field photo, enter from Lane 161, Alley 527, Daye Road, close to Zhongyi MRT Station.

Additionally, you can visit the foot of Datanli Mountain in Beitou. There, you’ll find a cool, refreshing riverside trail. Sit at the Four Seasons Corridor and gaze out over the Guandu Plain. At night, you can take in the Taipei skyline, making it perfect for a light one-day urban getaway.
