Overlooking the entire Chianan Plain – A sneak peek at the Taiping Skywalk

Although Taiwan already has many skywalks and trails, the Taiping Skywalk in Meishan, Chiayi, which officially opens on September 26, stands out with its length of 281 meters and height of 1,000 meters above sea level, making it the tallest and longest suspension bridge in Taiwan. The expansive view it offers over the Chianan Plain is highly anticipated.

The Taiping Skywalk is located next to Taiping Village on Provincial Highway 62A. Entering from Meishan Township in Chiayi County, it climbs from an altitude of over 100 meters up to 1,000 meters, passing through the famous 36 hairpin turns before reaching the gently sloping basin that is Taiping Village. This area serves as another gateway to the Alishan Forest Recreation Area, in addition to the Alishan Highway.

The “Taiping Skywalk” suspension bridge, set to open on September 26, is situated in Taiping Village. Spanning 281 meters in length and standing 1,000 meters above sea level, it stretches between two small mountain peaks, making it the highest and longest suspension bridge in Taiwan. From the bridge, visitors can directly overlook the Chiayi Plain and sunsets, and on clear days, even catch a glimpse of the Taiwan Strait. With changing weather conditions, one can also admire the sea of clouds and the nighttime scenery of the Meishan 36 Hairpin Turns. Whether during the day or at night, the views offer distinct charm.
