The forested area of Zhongzheng Mountain in Beitou District, Taipei, boasts a rich and diverse natural ecological environment that is lush and captivating. The city’s Public Works Department, Earth Engineering Office, has discovered an excellent hidden spot for sightseeing and constructed the “Quanyuan Zhongzheng Mountain Viewing Platform.” With its magnificent scenery and expansive views, the platform not only overlooks the Guandu Plain and the Beitou MRT Depot but also offers distant views of Bali and Guanyin Mountain. The view is entirely unobstructed. A few cherry blossom trees along the roadside add a touch of romance, and at dusk, the setting sun lends an entirely different charm.

Huang Liyuan, head of the Earth Engineering Office, stated that the Quanyuan Zhongzheng Mountain Viewing Platform takes into account both the local landscape and cultural characteristics. It is integrated with the popular Zhongzheng Mountain Hiking Trail, providing citizens with a high-quality recreational environment. The design was inspired by MRT trains, with seats and guardrails incorporating train motifs, and the platform is divided into four differently elevated sections resembling train carriages, following the terrain changes of the road.

Xia Xiantong, head of the Roads and Trails Section of the Earth Engineering Office, said that the industrial road in Quanyuan Li, where the viewing platform is situated, leads to Yangmingshan. Winding along the mid-slopes of Datun Mountain, the road features stunning scenery and is a favorite among hikers. The Earth Engineering Office has set up the “Quanyuan Zhongzheng Mountain Viewing Platform” here, allowing passersby to stop and enjoy the mountain and city views, creating a refreshing experience.

The industrial road in Quanyuan Li, where the viewing platform is located, winds along the mid-slopes of Datun Mountain and passes by the “Postal Training Institute Trail” and the “Fayu Temple Trail.” The road features beautiful scenery and is a favored path for hikers, as well as leading to Yangmingshan. Chen Zhicheng, the neighborhood chief of Quanyuan Li, said that during the flower season, there are more visitors, and this route from the hiking trail is very convenient. In fact, the cherry blossoms nearby are even better than those on Yangmingshan—Yangmingshan isn’t the only option.
