Dezhou Dongzi Garden Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Dezhou Dongzi Reading Platform was originally built during the Sui Dynasty but was destroyed during the wars of the Republican era. In September 2007, a new culturally rich scenic park was constructed. The newly built Dongzi Garden Scenic Area centers around Confucian culture, vigorously promoting Confucian thought and heritage. The entire scenic area features the Dongzi Reading Platform as its main attraction, with the Sha Wang River water system as its framework, with the platform built by the water and scenery emerging along the water. All artificial landscapes are traditional architecture in gray-white tones, reflecting the simple, unadorned, and majestic architectural style of the Han Dynasty. The Dongzi Cultural Street on the west side and the pristine ecological garden on the east side are connected by the river, guarding each other along its banks, showcasing a harmonious urban landscape where human cultural spaces blend with natural ecological spaces.

Dongzi Garden was built to commemorate Dong Zhongshu, a great Confucian scholar of the Western Han Dynasty. In his youth, Dong Zhongshu studied Confucianism in Dezhou for 13 years, and a Dongzi Reading Platform was historically erected there. Currently, the core area of Dezhou Dongzi Garden Scenic Area has been preliminarily completed. The left-side waterway was transformed from a drainage ditch that runs from north to south, and the Dongzi Cultural Street project is under construction on the opposite bank. Ahead on the road is the under-construction Liuhu Academy. The reconstruction of the Dongzi Reading Platform and Liuhu Academy provides visitors with a new venue that integrates cultural education and leisure entertainment. The centerpiece of Dongzi Garden — the Dongzi Reading Platform — stands 24.8 meters tall and consists of the Dongzi Reading Hall, the Dongzi Shrine, and related supporting facilities. In front of the reading platform stands a bronze statue of Dong Zhongshu, the great Confucian scholar of the Han Dynasty. The statue is 6 meters high and weighs approximately 3 tons, designed and supervised by Professor Qian Shaowu from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Alongside the reading platform, a new lake area of 45,000 square meters has been excavated, featuring structures such as a stone boat, a lakeside pavilion, a five-arch bridge, Zhaozhou Bridge, a water archway, a sky-reaching fountain, and a Yin-Yang Fish Plaza.
