Plesen Machine Tool Museum

The Plesen Machine Tool Museum is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

The Plesen Machine Tool Museum is located at No. 1 Fuyuan Street, Dezhou City, within the campus of Dezhou Plesen Technical School. The museum was self-funded by Shandong Plesen Group Co., Ltd. In June 2008, the company’s Party Committee organized a team to begin conceptual planning, while the Shandong Provincial Museum was responsible for the design scheme and construction. The project was carried out in two phases. Phase I officially opened on November 2, 2008, condensing 72 years of history from the establishment of the repair department of the Printing Factory of the Qinghe Branch of the Beihai Bank—the predecessor of the Plesen Group—amid wartime in 1939 to the present. Phases II and III officially opened on September 4, 2010. Phase II provides a detailed introduction to the development of the machine tool industry both in China and abroad, showcasing the evolution of the global machine tool industry, the history of modern industrial development, and the transformation of China’s machine tool industry. Phase III mainly consists of a physical exhibition hall displaying key products from numerous domestic and international machine tool manufacturers. The Plesen Machine Tool Museum is a Shandong Provincial Industrial Tourism Demonstration Site, a Dezhou Municipal Patriotic Education Base, and a municipal-level key cultural relics protection unit. It is also the city’s only revolutionary history museum themed around the rise and fall of national industry in both old and new societies.
