Dezhou Jiulongwan Park

Dezhou Jiulongwan Park is a national AA-level tourist attraction and a national wetland park.

The canal enters Dezhou like a dragon in motion, leaping and winding as it gazes nine times toward the city. Blessed by a prosperous era with flourishing people and a wealthy nation, the site at the dragon’s head was transformed into an entertainment landscape, giving birth to Jiulongwan Park.

The park is covered in lush greenery, offering a serene environment where birds sing and animals like badgers and raccoons roam freely, full of life. There is an abundance of native tree species including poplar, elm, willow, and locust, with over a thousand mature and ancient trees, along with nearly fifty newly planted varieties such as cedar, cherry blossom, magnolia, crabapple, crape myrtle, walnut, winter jasmine, and rose, resembling a “botanical grand garden.”

The park’s bricks, tiles, soil, and stones have been selected to look old yet new, with walls and paths exuding a rustic charm, showcasing distinctive northern Ming and Qing architectural styles. Traditional gates, pavilions, corridors, terraces, kiosks, archways, and vegetation, together with the lake, form the six scenic highlights of Longwan: Layered Greenery Overlooking the View, Rain-Enriched Cherry Garden, Wisteria’s Whisper, Verdant Garden of Blooms, Tranquil Waters for a Peaceful Mind, and Lush Wilderness.

Ancient and old water supply facilities in the park have been preserved and protected, with the water production process organized to recreate the steps of pre-sedimentation, reaction, sedimentation, and filtration, offering visitors a glimpse into the origin of the “source of life.”

In the northwest corner of the park stands a tall pavilion, while archways are built to the west and southwest, tentatively named “Houde” (Virtue), “Qixiu” (Inspiring Talent), and “Chongxian” (Revering the Worthy), symbolizing the idea that “only with deep virtue can talent be inspired, and the city reveres the worthy,” extending heartfelt wishes to all esteemed guests.
