Jinan Zifang Cave Cultural Tourism Ecological Park is situated in Zhongkou Town, Licheng District, Jinan City. As the saying goes, “A mountain need not be high — it is spiritual if immortals dwell there; a water body need not be deep — it is famous if dragons live in it.” The park derives its name from Zhang Liang [courtesy name Zifang; after his failed assassination attempt on Emperor Qin Shi Huang, he fled to Xiapi. There, through the incidents of “picking up the shoe on the Yi Bridge” and being recognized as teachable, he received the “Art of War” by Jiang Ziya from the “Yellow Stone Old Man,” who was in fact the deified figure of the immortal Chisongzi and also verified to be the rain master of the Yellow Emperor. Research confirms that he was originally from Wei Yuan Village, Dong’e Town, Pingyin County, Jinan City]. He was gifted the “Art of War by Jiang Ziya” by the Yellow Stone Old Man. After studying the military treatise thoroughly and mastering its essence, Zhang Liang assisted Liu Bang in establishing the Han Dynasty, and was later titled Marquis of Liu, known as one of the “Three Heroes of the Early Han” alongside Xiao He and Han Xin, earning the historic reputation of “strategizing within a tent and winning battles a thousand miles away.” Deeply understanding the principle that “one should retire after achieving fame and success,” Zhang Liang, following the establishment of the Western Han regime and in accordance with his prior agreement with his mentor, the Yellow Stone Old Man, came to what is now Zifang Cave on Tongbi Mountain in Jinan to live in seclusion and cultivate Daoism, eventually becoming an immortal. After ascending to immortality, he was titled the “Celestial Child of Mysterious Profundity,” often accompanying the Supreme Venerable Lord Laozi in the Great Purity realm. During the Song Dynasty’s Zhenghe era, he was posthumously honored as the “True Man Lingxu.”] The area became known as Zifang Cave after he chose to live here in seclusion and attained immortality. In his honor, temples were built and have been worshipped in for thousands of years, with incense burning continuously. Tongbi Mountain thus became a famous Taoist immortal mountain in Jinan, and Zifang Cave naturally earned the reputation of the “No. 1 Immortal Cave in the Spring City.”

Transportation Guide

1. Bus Routes: Take bus No. 65, 67, or 88 within the city to Zhongkou Town, then transfer to the No. 88 bus to Gao’er Office, taking the Branch Line 2 to get off at Donggou Village.

2. Self-driving Route: Take the Jinan Ring Expressway (G2001) — Exit at Jinan South (get off the highway) — Head south to Zhongkou Town — then to Donggou Village, Zifang Cave Park.
