Deer Running Spring

Deer Running Spring is located at the northwest corner of Lubaquan Village in Liubu Town, nestled between green mountains and trees. It features a crystal-clear water surface spanning about 5 acres with a depth of approximately 3 meters. The reflections of the mountains and trees on the water create a picturesque scene. The spring is found at the base of a cliff in the northwest corner, where the cliff stands 4 meters high. Clear spring water gushes from a crevice at the bottom of the rock wall, some dripping like pearls and others flowing in steady streams, running continuously all year round.

There are two legends about how Deer Running Spring got its name. One tale says that in ancient times, this area was deep in mountains and forests, often frequented by wild deer. One day, a wild deer came running down from the mountain, thirsty and looking for water but unable to find any. It began digging frantically with its hooves in the grass at the edge of the cliff. Before long, a clear spring sprang out from a crack in the rocks. Since then, people have called this spring Deer Running Spring. However, Yan Bi, a poet from the Ming Dynasty, disagreed with this explanation. He believed the spring was named for the sound of its flowing water, which resembled the call of a deer (“lu” being an onomatopoeic reference to the deer’s cry).
