Sweet Dew Spring

Sweet Dew Spring is located on the northern hillside of Lingyan Temple. From "Jiasha Spring," head east across Lingdai Bridge, follow the mountain path uphill, and you'll find it to the east of the ruins of Emperor Qianlong's temporary palace — the foremost spring of Lingyan Temple, Sweet Dew Spring. The three characters "甘露泉" (Sweet Dew Spring) were inscribed by Emperor Qianlong. There used to be a Sweet Dew Pavilion by the spring, and this spot was known as a "cooling realm." The spring water flows out from beneath the rocky cliff, runs underground through a wall, circles around the stone pool beneath the Sweet Dew Pavilion, meanders downward, and eventually pours into the valley. Today, the inscription of the spring's name by Emperor Qianlong and the large stone tablet marked "Source of the Waterflow" still remain, but the Sweet Dew Pavilion no longer exists.

Transportation Tip: Take a bus from Jinan to Wandei or Tai’an, get off at Wandei, and then transfer to another bus to Lingyan Temple.
