Ladder Mountain

Ladder Mountain is the highest peak in Jinan and remains undeveloped as a tourist attraction, standing at an elevation of 976 meters. It is located in Tizi Village, Xiyang, Jinan. Amidst the southern mountainous area of Jinan, which is largely divided into ticketed, commercialized zones, Ladder Mountain preserves its pristine natural ecology and retains a sense of wild desolation. It can be called the most beautiful backyard garden of Jinan, making it a favored hiking destination for both local and visiting outdoor enthusiasts.

Within Ladder Mountain lies the Shuiliangxia Scenic Area, which boasts rich ecological resources. It is known for its high mountains, steep gorges, peculiar rocks, mountain springs, waterfalls, and freshwater jellyfish, and is often referred to as “the summit of Spring City and the source of Baotu Spring.” The area features Jinan’s highest peak, its longest canyon, the province’s largest cluster of natural waterfalls, Jinan’s only Tai Mountain stone provincial geological park, the only site where freshwater jellyfish have been found at the same latitude, and the city’s highest-altitude spring group. The scenic area is also Jinan’s largest Forsythia viewing base, the source of Jinan’s springs, and the city’s biggest wild medicinal herb treasure trove.

Self-driving info: Head south on Yingxiongshan Road → take Provincial Highway 103 south → cross Zhonggong Bridge on Provincial Highway 103 → drive to Liubu Town, then follow Liubu Street → follow the signs along the road → Shuiliangxia Scenic Area. Public transport info: Take bus 67 from downtown Jinan (stops include Baliqiao, Dikou Road, Jinan Long-Distance Bus Station, Chengfeng Bridge, Tianqiao South, Daguan Garden, Yingxiongshan, Sinotruk Technology Center) to the terminal stop Lijiatang, then walk 5 km south.
