Doumu Spring

Doumu Spring is one of the Seventy-Two Famous Springs of Jinan, located on the Bronze Mountain in the southern mountainous area, and is the highest-altitude spring in Jinan.

Doumu Spring, one of the Seventy-Two Famous Springs of Jinan, is located in Shilihe Town, downtown district. The spring water gushes out from the cliffs of Bronze Mountain, flows through a dragon head, and collects in a pool that is 8 meters long and 5 meters wide. On the north side of the spring pool, there are two covered water outlets with lids. The newly renovated spring pool is backed by a screen wall featuring yellow glazed tiles, gray bricks, and white walls, with an inscribed spring stele embedded in it. The area around the spring pool is enclosed by granite railings. Behind the screen wall, there are two ancient large trees: a catalpa and a paulownia, with the catalpa already decayed. Opposite Doumu Spring is the Doumu Palace. The village has farmhouse restaurants run by local villagers. Many city residents come here to collect spring water, and they have even devised a method of using hoses with funnels to draw the water.

Located at the western end of Doumu Spring Village at the top of Bronze Mountain, it is the highest-altitude spring among Jinan’s New Seventy-Two Famous Springs. The “Licheng County Annals” frequently mention: “Dougu Spring is at the northern peak of the Great Buddha Temple,” and it was recorded by Hao Zhi Gong of the Qing Dynasty in the “Seventy-Two Springs Record.” The water spouts from the mouth of a stone-carved dragon installed in a rock hole, gathering in a square stone pool. The water is cool, sweet, and refreshing, providing drinking water for villagers. It is also stored in a closed reservoir for crop irrigation and field watering.
