Simen Pagoda Gushing Spring

Gushing Spring is one of the 72 Famous Springs of Jinan. It is located in Sucun Village, Liubu Town, in the southern mountainous area of Jinan, west of the Simen Pagoda. The "Licheng County Annals" record: "West of Shentong Temple," referring to it as Yongteng Spring. The spring water gushes from the crevices in the mountainside of Baihu Mountain, spraying out from the mouth of a stone-carved dragon head into a square stone pool measuring 5 meters in length and 4.5 meters in width. From there, it overflows from the southern bank, cascading down the mountain in three tiers, forming scenic views such as "Waterfall over Cliffs," "Long Flowing Stream," and "Embellishment on Brocade." Beside the pool stands the "Record of the Reconstruction of Gushing Spring" stone tablet from the 3rd year of the Tianqi era in the Ming Dynasty (1623), as well as the Gushing Spring Bridge built in the 6th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty.

Transportation

Take bus No. 67 within the city (fare: 3 RMB, available at bus stops along South Tianqiao, Daguan Garden, and Yingxiongshan Road) and get off at the Simen Pagoda stop. Walk 600 meters back toward the north to reach the site.
