Yuhe Spring

Yuhe Spring is located by the river in Yuhequan Village, Caishi Town. Originally named “Yuhe Spring” (Fish River Spring), it got its name because there were fish in the river at the spring’s source. Later, due to the similar pronunciation of the characters “yu” (jade) and “yu” (fish), it came to be called “Yuhe Spring.”

The water flows out from a cave in Yuhequan Village, passes through a shallow pool, flows eastward, then turns north into the Juye River, making it one of the sources of the Juye River. The Yuan Dynasty text *Qi Chuan* states “Juhe Water (i.e., the Juye River) originates fifty *li* south of Longshan Town, at a place called Yuke Spring,” which is believed to refer to this spring. Today, in the same village along the same river, there are many other mountain springs that gush forth during the rainy season, rushing downhill and flowing north into the Langmao Mountain Reservoir.
