Lush trees shelter the mountain village residences, with red tiles, white walls, blue skies, and white clouds — the tranquil mountain village resembles a stunning watercolor painting. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing a river on one, these natural geographical advantages bring unique benefits to this small mountain village, attracting many visitors. Entering Chengling Village is like stepping into a natural oxygen bar. Looking around, the rolling hills are covered in lush greenery, with undulating pine waves creating a magnificent view. If you visit in April or May, the mountains become even more enchantingly beautiful, with over 200 acres of Chinese cabbage flowers blooming competitively, dressing the hills in golden hues. Each delicate cabbage flower is vibrant and fragrant, transforming every ridge and valley into an ocean of flowers. The pervasive fragrance of the cabbage blossoms seems to transport you into a magical, romantic fairy-tale world.

The most famous spot in Chengling Village is undoubtedly Wild Man Valley. Built against the mountain and nestled in the deep valley between two peaks, Wild Man Valley faces Chengling Reservoir in front and is backed by green, tree-covered mountains. With its mountain and water views, it’s an excellent choice for escaping the summer heat. Accompanied by a cool breeze, you can paddle a boat while admiring the mountain scenery, play in the water, or even have a “race” with ducks in the water — it’s endlessly fun. After exploring the serene and mysterious Wild Man Valley, head to Sweet Osmanthus Valley, where the air is filled with the fragrance of locust flowers. This is another great summer retreat. When the locust flowers are in full bloom, the air carries a sweet scent. Breathing in the slightly sweet, fresh air, listening to the musical dripping of springs, and resting on a hammock in the woods offers a uniquely delightful experience. The online "Happy Farm" once captivated many people so deeply that they forgot to eat or sleep. In Chengling Village, there is a real-life version of the "Happy Farm." If you want to eat your own homegrown, worry-free vegetables and experience the joy of being a farmer, you can rent a plot of land here and thus have your own Happy Farm. You can sow your favorite vegetables in the fields, and spend your free time loosening the soil or watering the plants. Not only can you enjoy the pleasures of farming, but you can also eat the vegetables you’ve grown yourself.

Along the river in the village, 15 households have independently invested in establishing farmhouse accommodations that meet the two-star dining and lodging standards. Each household has at least two standard rooms (accommodating four people), two dining rooms, and one kitchen. Facilities include meals, lodging, showers, TVs, and internet access. It’s been over a decade since I last had a farmhouse meal in the countryside. Within just a few bites, I quickly found myself reliving the feelings of thirty years ago. Cucumbers tasted like cucumbers, potatoes like potatoes, and wild greens like wild greens. At the table filled with rich local flavors, the warmth was genuine and unpretentious. Each plate of meat dishes was fragrant without being greasy, and every fish or shrimp was fresh without any fishy smell. The vegetables tasted like vegetables, the meat like meat, and the fish like fish.

Transportation Guide

Public Transport:

Take the intercity bus K211 from Laiwu Bus Station to reach the village.

Self-Drive Guide:

Exit at Xinzhuang on the Jiqing Southern Expressway, drive 4 km south to the intersection of Xinzhuang Bridge and Laiwu Steel Avenue, then head east to the former Tieche Township area. Turn left and drive 1 km forward to arrive.
