Wenyuan Scenic Area

Wenyuan Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Wenyuan Scenic Area (including Xiafeng Village, Changsheng Village, Shizi Valley, Huanghua Valley, Taizi Village, Shalingzi Village, etc.). Located at the source of the Dawen River, Gangcheng District’s Wenyuan Subdistrict is known as the “Hometown of China’s Golden Honey Peach” and hosts the “Peach Blossom Festival” every April. In recent years, the area has integrated its distinctive floral and fruit resources to develop leisure and sightseeing programs such as “Spring for Flowers, Summer for Fruit Picking, Autumn for Lotus Harvest, and Winter for Greenhouse Crops.” After the apricot blossoms come the peach blossoms, and after flower viewing comes fruit picking. A variety of fruit-picking tours—from summer through autumn—featuring cherries, oil apricots, pomegranates, hawthorns, persimmons, and winter jujubes are very popular.

Spring for Flowers: March features apricot blossoms (the Ten-Li Apricot Blossom Corridor in Changsheng Village), April showcases peach blossoms (two flower-viewing routes covering over twenty villages and nearly 100,000 mu of peach orchards), and May highlights locust flowers (enjoy and pick locust blossoms on Xuan’gu Mountain and Lashan, as well as admire the scenery around Taizi Reservoir at the source of the Dawen River);

Summer for Fruit Picking: Cherries from Huanghua Valley Village and Qiezi Valley Village; strawberries from Nanjinshuihe Village; as well as oil apricots, apricots, winter jujubes, sour jujubes, persimmons, hawthorns, and pomegranates from Huanghua Valley Village; golden peaches, honey peaches, and other varieties of peaches from more than ten villages; and apples from Changsheng Village and Taizi Village, available from summer through autumn;

Autumn for Lotus Harvest: In summer, the snow lotus ponds along the Immortal Bridge riverbank offer lotus appreciation, cooling breezes, fresh air, and relaxation; in autumn, visitors can harvest and taste sweet lotus seeds and purchase snow lotus roots;

Winter for Greenhouse Crops: Greenhouses grow cucumbers and more, developing “eco-farms.”

In addition to enjoying the flowers, picking fruit, and taking in the beautiful scenery, visitors can also sample local specialties such as claypot chicken, pine mushroom stewed free-range chicken, Qishan stir-fried chicken, pickled fish, and large pieces of soybean curd.
