China Laiwu Iron and Steel Museum

Located in downtown Laiwu, it integrates a 3,000-year history of metallurgy in Laiwu, cutting-edge global steel technology and process displays, and simulated iron smelting experiences, standing out uniquely in China as both a historical panorama and an encyclopedia of steel development.

The China Laiwu Iron and Steel Museum consists of multiple exhibition halls, including the Hand of Pangu themed sculpture, the lobby, the Spring and Autumn of Mining and Metallurgy, the Thorny Path, Forged Through Fire, Casting Brilliance, and Future Prospects. The themed sculpture "Hand of Pangu" stands tall in front of the museum, reaching 33.5 meters in height. Its upper part, depicting the sun and moon, symbolizes heaven; the lower part, showing upright earth, represents the ground; and the middle section, illustrating molten gold and cast iron, signifies human creation of civilization. The eight bas-reliefs on the base depict eight folk legends, such as Pangu Creating Heaven and Earth, Nüwa Mending the Sky, and Suiren Discovering Fire. The entire sculpture symbolizes that steel is the cornerstone of modern civilization and the "Hand of Pangu" that transforms the world. The "Steel Age" themed sculpture in the lobby is composed of stylized worker figures and a massive gear, symbolizing the immense power of the steel industry in driving societal progress. The "Spring and Autumn of Mining and Metallurgy" exhibition hall vividly recreates the prosperity of ancient Laiwu’s iron smelting industry through rich scene sculptures, background animations, and iron and steel relics. The "Thorny Path" exhibition hall showcases the development of China’s modern iron and steel industry. The "Forged Through Fire" exhibition hall uses simulation technology to recreate the full processes of blast furnace ironmaking, converter ironmaking, and electric furnace steelmaking.
