Laiwu Steel Industrial Tourism Route

Leveraging its corporate influence and modern steel production lines, Laiwu Iron and Steel Group has actively developed a distinctive industrial tourism program titled "How Steel Is Made – China’s Largest H-shaped Steel Production Base." Among Laiwu’s many mining and manufacturing enterprises, the Yanshan H-shaped Steel New Area, with an annual steel production capacity of 5.5 million tons, represents a major achievement during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period in terms of product structure and equipment upgrades. It is also the most comprehensively engineered and most modernized new industrial area. The industrial zone is equipped with China’s most advanced large-scale H-shaped steel production line. With an annual output of 2 million tons of large H-shaped steel, the production line manufactures H-beams with a maximum width of 400 mm and a maximum height of 1,000 mm, filling a domestic gap. The main equipment of this production line was imported from Germany’s SMS group, integrating the largest scale, most comprehensive variety, and highest market competitiveness of H-shaped steel production bases in today’s steel industry. This new area incorporates leading-edge technologies from both China and abroad, including France’s digital heating furnaces, fully dry gas purification and power generation technology, converter flue gas dry purification technology, pulverized coal injection technology, and high blast furnace wind temperature technology in processes such as sintering, ironmaking, steelmaking, and rolling. It has also developed and established industrial and product technologies with independent intellectual property rights owned by Laiwu Steel. Since its completion, the new area’s modern production techniques and clean factory environment have attracted countless professionals for visits, inspections, and study. According to incomplete statistics, it receives over 25,000 visitors from various fields annually.
