Laiwu Campaign Memorial Hall
The Laiwu Campaign Memorial Hall is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, a classic red tourism destination, a patriotic education base, and a national defense education base.
The Laiwu Campaign is a shining example of mobile warfare in the history of the People's Liberation Army and one of the 100 classic battles in world military history. The films "Southern Expedition, Northern War" and "Red Sun" were both based on the Laiwu Campaign.
The Laiwu Campaign Memorial Hall was reconstructed in 1997 on the site of the former Laiwu Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery. In 2007, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Laiwu Campaign, the memorial hall underwent a comprehensive upgrade. The name of the hall was inscribed by the former Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, State Councilor, and Minister of National Defense.
The Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs stands on the central axis of the memorial hall and is one of the 100 key monuments in China.
The exhibition hall is divided into five sections: the Preface Hall, the Pre-Campaign Hall, the Campaign Hall, the Support-the-Front Hall, and the Martyrs Hall. The entire exhibition design inherits traditional Chinese exhibition concepts and techniques while incorporating some advanced modern exhibition art forms and high-tech methods from both domestic and international sources, creating a refreshing, moving, and impactful experience.
The Panoramic Painting Hall, built in 1997, features a painting 17 meters high and 120 meters in circumference, with a ground sculpture covering 1,200 square meters. It simulates real combat scenes, sound effects, and natural lighting, integrating "sound, light, and electricity" to provide an immersive and thrilling experience, with strong artistic appeal and high aesthetic value.
The newly built outdoor weapons exhibition area displays two aircraft, two tanks, and ten artillery pieces, further enriching the exhibition content.
Since 2001, the memorial hall has been designated as a "National Key Revolutionary Martyrs' Memorial Building Protection Unit," "National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base," "National Youth Education Base," "National AAAA-Level Tourist Attraction," "National 100 Classic Red Tourism Destinations," an important ideological education base in Shandong Province, a provincial national defense education base, a provincial integrity education base, and a provincial social science popularization education base. It has also been awarded the title of Advanced Unit in the Provincial Service Industry and a Provincial Trusted Tourism Consumption Unit, becoming an important base for patriotic education, revolutionary tradition education, and national defense education for government agencies, social organizations, and the general public.
