Wangshimen Heavenly Village Scenic Area

The Wangshimen Heavenly Village Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

The main attractions of the Wangshimen “Heavenly Village” Scenic Area include “Three Valleys, Two Lakes, and One Sky Village.” The “Three Valleys” refer to the Jiutian Grand Canyon, Shimen Grand Canyon, and Locust Flower Valley; the “Two Lakes” are Jiutian Lake and Jiulong Lake; and the “Sky Village” is Wangshimen Village.

The Wangshimen Scenic Area is a national 2A-level tourist attraction and a national agricultural tourism demonstration site. It is situated amidst the rolling mountains in the central part of the Qilu Grand Canyon Tourist Area. The area boasts abundant natural tourism resources, among which the Wangshimen Folk Village, characterized by classic Central Shandong architectural style, sits at an elevation of

851 meters, making it the highest-altitude village in Shandong Province. Surrounded by misty peaks, it has long been known as the “Heavenly Village.” The entire “Heavenly Village” Scenic Area features pristine natural scenery and pastoral folk culture, with spring, summer, and autumn being the best seasons for visiting.

The Jiutian Grand Canyon stretches from Longwei Lake at its lower end to Wangshimen Village at its upper reaches, spanning approximately 10 kilometers in total. The valley remains in its primitive state, with waterfalls, streams, unique rock formations, steep cliffs, and dense forests, offering a diverse landscape suitable for exploration, sightseeing, and summer retreats.

The Shimen Grand Canyon is 3,600 meters long with an average depth of 300 meters. It gets its name from a perilous section on the western side of the canyon that resembles a stone gate standing firmly, exuding the imposing aura of “one man guarding the pass, ten thousand unable to breach it,” which makes it particularly distinctive.

Locust Flower Valley is located 4 li west of the village, covering an area of 5,000 mu. The valley has a forest coverage rate of 95%, with dense foliage creating a shaded, otherworldly ambiance. The vast and serene grounds are carpeted with lush green grass. The air in Locust Flower Valley is fresh, and the ecological environment is pristine, making it a natural “high-mountain oxygen bar.” Locust flowers bloom here every May, just as the saying goes, “When earthly blooms fade in April, heavenly locust blossoms begin.” In May each year, a half-month-long Locust Flower Festival is held, where visitors can admire the locust blossoms, breathe in their fragrance, take locust flower baths, enjoy locust flower banquets, and immerse themselves in the boundless joys of nature.

Jiulong Lake is 3 li from the village and serves as the source of the Jiulong Grand Canyon. With a water storage capacity of 500,000 cubic meters, the lake features a broad surface, crystal-clear emerald-green waters, and a tranquil, picturesque beauty that refreshes the mind and spirit. Surrounded by green trees, streams, mountain peaks, blue skies, and white clouds, several lakeside cottages offer uniquely charming scenery. In leisure time, invite a few friends for a small gathering, go fishing by the lake, or rest in the woods to fully enjoy the pleasures of the “Heavenly Village.”
