Wenchang Island Scenic Area

This scenic area is located on Wenchang Island in Xueye Lake, Xueye Town, Laicheng District. It integrates tourism, dining, and accommodation, offering a southern-style landscape with sunshine, beaches, grasslands, willow-lined embankments, and bamboo pavilions.

Wenchang Island is the only island in Xueye Lake. Legend has it that any scholar who visited the island would surely become a top imperial examination candidate. After the reservoir was built in 1958, the surrounding small hills were submerged underwater, leaving only this island standing proudly, hence it came to be known as "Wenchang Island." Stepping onto Wenchang Island feels like entering a paradise on earth, where flowers and fruits are fragrant, weeping willows sway gently, and green grass carpets the ground. Leisure and entertainment facilities such as swings, roller tubes, and a large natural bathing beach have been set up here, making Wenchang Island a true leisure paradise.

Xueye Subdistrict: Located in Xueye Town, Laicheng District, Laiwu City, it was formed in January 2001 through the merger of the former Shangyou, Xueye, and Luye three townships. The town is situated in the northern mountainous area of Laiwu City, bordering Zhangqiu to the north and Zibo to the east, and was historically an important pass of the ancient Jinyang Pass. The area boasts abundant natural resources, outstanding people, rich produce, and convenient transportation. The Laiming Highway, Zhonglin Highway, 09 Highway, and Puxue Highway crisscross and run through the entire town. The total area of the town is 223 square kilometers, with 36,000 mu of arable land and 119,800 mu of forested mountain land suitable for afforestation. It governs 49 administrative villages with a population of 46,460.
