Dongping Museum is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Dongping Museum is a key county-level construction project, serving as a landmark building that comprehensively showcases the historical and cultural heritage of Dongping as well as its economic and social development achievements. It enriches the city’s cultural depth and elevates its overall image.

Dongping Museum faces Baifo Mountain to the north and borders the Cultural Development Center Plaza to the south, with a total land area of 48,426.75 square meters (72.64 mu), a building footprint of 4,160.77 square meters (6.24 mu), and a total floor area of 14,005.88 square meters. It includes one basement level spanning 2,061.26 square meters, and three above-ground floors totaling 11,944.62 square meters, with an overall height of 18.2 meters. The facility houses functional areas such as a reading room, exhibition halls, and storage rooms, and has a designed service life of 100 years. The total investment is 200 million yuan. The entire structure—from its interior to its exterior and surrounding environment—embodies the unique culture and traditions of Dongping. It highlights three major themes: “Han Culture,” “Stone Culture,” and “Water Culture.” The architectural style is inspired by the grandeur and solidity of Han Dynasty architecture, forming the museum’s dominant aesthetic. The overall plan view of the building resembles the traditional Chinese character “東” (Dong) in its traditional form. When viewed from atop Baifo Mountain, the museum appears as a giant stone seal engraved with the character “東,” symbolizing the mark of Dongping. The surrounding landscape is integrated with water features, and a scenic cascading waterfall on the main northern entrance staircase flows into a decorative pool at the front plaza. The interplay of interior and exterior water elements symbolizes Dongping’s long and enduring history and its ongoing journey toward harmonious development.
