Gouba Site

The Gouba Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Tai’an City.

Gouba Site

Located on a mountainous terrace west of Gouba Village, Timen Township, Dongping County, the site covers an area of approximately 6,300 square meters and dates back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties. The cultural layer is about 0.5–2 meters thick. The soil is grayish-brown, and surface artifacts include brown pottery tripod leg fragments mixed with sand, coarse gray clay beanpot handles, thick-walled jars, animal bones, and clamshell fragments. Most pottery pieces are commonly decorated with rope patterns. There is a square ash pit in the southern part of the site, measuring 1.5 meters on each side. The Gouba Site is a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit.
