Dongping Kunlun Mountain

Kunshan is also known as "Kun Mountain" or "Kunlun Mountain." Legend has it that King Mu of Zhou once hunted here and was besieged by bandits with no access to water. His horse pawed at the ground and a spring emerged, hence the mountain was called "Kun Mountain" (meaning "Besieged Mountain") and the spring was named "Horse-Pawing Spring." During the transition from the Sui to the Tang Dynasty, the Wagang Army led by Li Mi built an ancient mountain stronghold here. The heroes of the Water Margin, the three Ruan brothers, and troops of the Taiping Rebellion all left traces of their activities here.

The Kunshan Scenic Area is an important part of Shandong Province’s "Journey to the Water Margin" tourism route and the Dongping Lake Scenic Area. With beautiful ecological surroundings and unique natural scenery, the Kunlun Mountain Scenic Area is themed around "exploring the ecological landscapes of Kunlun Mountain, experiencing the legacy of Water Margin culture, and connecting with the thousand-year-old Buddhist heritage of ancient temples." It serves as a comprehensive eco-tourism destination integrating ecological sightseeing, leisure vacation, Water Margin culture exploration, and Buddhist culture.
