Jiliang Mountain Scenic Area

Jiliang Mountain Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Jiliang Mountain Scenic Area is located in Sili Mountain Village, Daimiao Town, Dongping County. It borders the Yellow River to the west, the remnants of the ancient eight-hundred-li water marshes — Dongping Lake — to the east, Yingshan Town to the north, and the Water Margin Liangshan area to the south. National Highway 220 runs through the village, offering convenient transportation. Jiliang Mountain, also known as Sili Mountain, was once the first stronghold where the legendary heroes of the Water Margin, such as Chao Gai, Wu Yong, and the three Ruan brothers, gathered. The mountain features numerous Water Margin relics, including the Sea-Exploring Rock, the Dashanyu Valley where Wang Lun was killed, the Seven-Star Martial Arts Field, the Gathering Hall, Song Jiang’s Tower, Song Jiang’s Horse Path, grain storage facilities, the Rebellion Army’s Chess Pole Cave, the Rebellion Army’s Well, and Li Kui’s Watch Post, among others. Atop the mountain lies the more than 1,500-year-old “Northern Qi Great Buddha of Central China” and the “Thousand Buddha Cliff,” which are hailed as the “Western Shandong Stone Carving Museum.” It is also the seventh-largest cliff carving photo site in China and the earliest religious mountain in northern China where the “Three Teachings” (Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism) were unified.

The scenic area has developed the Jiliang Mountain Ecological Park to meet visitors' needs for dining, accommodation, sightseeing, entertainment, fruit picking, and more on the mountain. A traditional Jiliang Mountain Temple Fair is held annually from the 18th to the 23rd of the fourth lunar month, attracting large crowds of visitors and thriving incense offerings. More than 1,000 acres of precious seedlings and flowers are planted at the foot of Jiliang Mountain for visitors to enjoy.
