Fanzi Temple

Fanzi Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Fanzi Temple is located 20 meters southwest of Wutai Village, Zhanghuang Town, Yutai County. The tomb is exposed on the ground in the form of an earthen mound, standing 0.8 meters above the surface with a circumference of 10 meters. Fanzi, whose given name was Xu and courtesy name Zichi, was a native of the State of Lu (some say the State of Qi) during the late Spring and Autumn period. He was born in the spring of the year 505 BC (the year of Bingshen) in Renbeifan Village (now Nanzhang Township, Rencheng District, Jining). The area also preserves a cluster of Han Dynasty tombs belonging to the Fan clan, commonly known as the Fan Family Mounds, including the tomb of Fan Sangong (Fanzi’s great-great-great-grandfather) and the tomb of Fanzi’s father, Fan Pi. In the Han Dynasty, Fanzi’s eleventh-generation descendants, Fan Zong and Fan Yan, built Fan Temple, Fan Mansion, and Fan Forest beside Fanzi’s tomb, erecting a stele in front of the grave. The site was quite grand and has been the focus of worship through the ages. In 1985, it was designated as a county-level key cultural relics protection unit.
