Chengdu, November 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality, a joint venture between Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and MGM Resorts International, has entered Chengdu. The first “Diaoyutai” branded hotel has officially opened today in the culturally rich Kuanzhai Alley in Chengdu.

Chengdu is known as the “Land of Abundance,” and Kuanzhai Alley is the “mansion” of Chengdu. The Chengdu Diaoyutai Boutique Hotel is situated on Kuanzhai Alley, a 300-year-old urban district that embodies the city’s charm. Nestled within the lively surroundings yet offering tranquility, the hotel creates an elegant, majestic, and grand state guest experience amid the hustle and bustle. The hotel showcases Chengdu’s courtyard culture while infusing it with international fashion and a romantic ambiance. Its courtyards reach up to the heavens and down to the earth, representing an elite culture—a heritage that blends imperial grandeur with the leisurely spirit of Sichuan.

The hotel’s facilities were designed under the direction of Bruno Moinard a world-renowned French master designer, covering an area of 16,000 square meters. Within two traditional Chinese courtyards, there are 45 diplomatic-level guest rooms, four gourmet restaurants, lounges, and an exclusive club space. Among them, the Imperial Garden State Banquet Restaurant is helmed by Mr. Huang Guoliang, the former Executive Deputy Chef of Diaoyutai State Guesthouse who has served numerous heads of state and government leaders. The hotel’s comprehensive luxury amenities cater to diverse exclusive needs: the Diaoyutai Reception Hall, Diaoyutai Life Gallery, Asian Fashion Restaurant, Fangfei Show Lobby Lounge, and Houjie Dessert Shop. In addition, fully equipped high-end meeting and premium exhibition facilities will also make the Chengdu Diaoyutai Hotel an ideal venue for business events. The Diaoyutai Art Life Gallery located within the hotel will also open shortly.

Regarding the opening of the Chengdu Diaoyutai Boutique Hotel, Zhang Junsai, Director of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse Administration, stated: “Diaoyutai State Guesthouse is China’s highest-standard facility for foreign affairs reception. By leveraging the high-end hotel management platform jointly created with MGM Resorts International, one of the world’s leading luxury hotel groups, we are very pleased to launch the ‘Diaoyutai’ brand starting with the Chengdu Diaoyutai Boutique Hotel. This initiative promotes the art of Chinese hospitality and establishes a new paradigm for experiential global hospitality.”

Jim Murren, Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International, said: “The Chinese market is extremely important to us. Our collaboration with Diaoyutai State Guesthouse is a perfect opportunity for MGM to promote our brands in China. Following the opening of the Sanya MGM Resort, we are delighted to see the inauguration of the first ‘Diaoyutai’ branded hotel. In the future, we will also open several hotels under the ‘MGM’, ‘Belmond’, and ‘Skylofts’ brands in China, aiming to bring MGM-style entertainment and luxury experiences to Chinese consumers.”

“Since its establishment, Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality has signed hotel projects in major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Sanya, Dalian, Xiamen, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen. The official opening of the Chengdu Diaoyutai Boutique Hotel will further expand and consolidate the group’s presence in the Chinese market,” said Scott Butera, Managing Director of Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality.

With uniquely luxurious hotels, mansions, shopping, and entertainment experiences, the collaboration between Diaoyutai and MGM celebrates a harmonious approach to hospitality. Starting in China and gaining worldwide renown. As Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality envisions, beginning with Chengdu, China’s state guesthouses—rich in historical and cultural heritage and featuring distinct styles—will step onto the global stage.
