China’s popular grilled fish dish makes its Taiwan debut – Tan Yu Taichung Gongyi Branch to open on June 16

Following in the footsteps of Haidilao Hot Pot and Huang Jihuang Sanzhi Men Pot, another wildly popular dining brand from mainland China has been introduced to Taiwan. Represented by LaKaffa International, “Tan Yu” is a well-known grilled fish restaurant in mainland China. Its first Taiwan outlet, located in Taichung’s Gongyi District, is set to open on June 16. Using cooking techniques such as marinating, grilling, charcoal broiling, and hot pot, Tan Yu offers a variety of tender, spicy, and flavorful grilled fish dishes with up to 18 different flavor options—so irresistible that diners are willing to wait in line for two to three hours just to try them.

Tan Yu’s grilled fish comes in over 10 flavors, characterized by three key elements: spiciness, aroma, and freshness. Among these, the Chongqing Tofu Pudding Grilled Fish is the brand’s signature among signatures. The dish features spices such as wrinkled chili peppers, Sichuan pepper, mint, and heartleaf houttuynia root, resulting in a fragrant, numbing, and spicy taste. Paired with a unique sauce, it delivers an authentic Sichuan-Chongqing flavor. Other options include soy-sauce-flavored grilled fish and fresh green chili–flavored grilled fish.
