Jining No. 3 Coal Mine is located by the scenic Weishan Lake, enjoys a prime location and convenient transportation, and has established an integrated development model of coal, electricity, and port. It is a large-scale, modern coal mine that combines a coal industrial park, a technology demonstration park, a tourism and sightseeing park, and a science education park — achieving safety, efficiency, environmental protection, energy conservation, and ecological civilization.

Officially put into operation on December 28, 2000, the mine’s main equipment was imported from abroad, featuring world-class technology and facilities. The comprehensive mechanization level of coal mining reached 100%. In October 2005, the mine successfully passed the national tourism administration’s high-standard inspection and became one of the first industrial tourism demonstration sites in China’s coal industry. In February 2010, it was recognized by the China Association for Science and Technology as a “National Science Education Base,” making it the only coal mine in the country to receive this honor.

With top-tier technology and equipment, management, profitability, and corporate image, Jining No. 3 Coal Mine has become a preferred destination for domestic and international business inspections. Industrial tourism has maintained a high starting point since the mine’s establishment and has now developed into a comprehensive sightseeing destination integrating coal science education, sightseeing, leisure, entertainment, and shopping. Leveraging the resources of canal culture and the scenery of Weishan Lake, the tourism offerings have been expanded to create a three-in-one tour route including underground mine tours, surface visits, and lake cruises. The site also features the “Pearl of the Canal” — the Sishikou Port in Jining, which connects to the south with Weishan Lake and provides direct access to Jiangsu and Zhejiang, forming a golden waterway for industrial tourism. The mine has successively won China’s highest award in the coal industry, the “Sun Cup,” the title of “Innovative Coal Mine of China’s Coal Industry,” and the China Coal Science and Technology Progress Award. It was also named the only “Classic Mine” in China’s coal system by the Ministry of Land and Resources and the China Mining Association.
