The Jining Youth Palace is a science education base.

The Jining Youth Palace was completed on December 31, 1981. After 35 years of effort, it has developed into a major center for extracurricular education for young people, covering a construction area of 12,000 square meters. It currently has 31 faculty and staff members, including 3 professors, 7 associate professors, and 13 lecturers. It houses an office, art activity rooms, a science and sports activities department, a base activities department, a finance department, a teaching and research department, as well as youth student organizations such as the Youth Art Troupe and the Young Pioneers Reporters Group.

Over the past 35 years, as the only fully established extracurricular education institution in Jining’s urban area, the Jining Youth Palace has, under the leadership of the Municipal Youth League Committee, consistently upheld the principle of “education first.” It offers over 70 training programs across 20 categories, including dance, martial arts, instrumental music, fine arts, vocal music, calligraphy, chess, writing, recitation and hosting, and children’s journalism. According to statistics, since its opening, the palace has trained more than 350,000 young people, sent 9,641 to various levels of schools and colleges, and dispatched 3,394 to various professional groups (including the military). Participants have taken part in 11,489 national competitions, winning 629 first prizes, 887 second prizes, 8,126 third prizes, 128 creation awards, 931 performance awards, and 926 outstanding organization awards. The palace has also organized or hosted over 230 national, provincial, and municipal events. It has been recognized 19 times as an “Advanced Youth Palace in the Province,” and has received multiple honors such as Advanced Party Branch in Municipal Agencies, Advanced Unit in Youth Work, and Municipal Civilized Unit. It is widely praised by society as a “cradle for nurturing talent and an oasis for spreading knowledge.”

Currently, the Jining Youth Palace is a council member of the China Youth Palace Association, a star-rated science education base under Shandong Province’s “Science Popularization Double Hundred Project,” the examination center for the China Musicians Association in Jining, and the examination center for the China Artists Association in Jining. In 2010, it was awarded the title of “National Characteristic Unit for Art Education” by the China Education Association and other organizations. In 2016, it was named a “Red Flag Youth Palace” by the Shandong Provincial Youth Palace Association.

In early 2006, the municipal government and municipal party committee used a land exchange method to relocate the Youth Palace from its old site to a new one (moving from No. 8 Hongxing Middle Road, Jining to No. 1 Hongxing Middle Road). When it first opened in 1981, the Jining Youth Palace had a construction area of 3,600 square meters, but today, the new Jining Youth Palace covers 12,000 square meters, four times the size of the old site. In 2009, the municipal government and party committee decided to upgrade and renovate the Youth Palace. While adhering to cost-effective operations and acting within their means, they ensured that the Youth Palace retained its functions in interest-based training, science and technology activities, labor skills, and exhibition exchanges. The renovation fully showcases the wonders of science and technology, performance talents, recreational sports, group activities, growth counseling, and interest-based classes. The goal is to achieve a top-tier national construction level and develop the Youth Palace into the largest, best-equipped, most fully functional, and most beautifully landscaped comprehensive extracurricular activity venue for youth in southwestern Shandong. It aims to serve as a widely influential model site and vividly reflect the charm of Chinese culture.
