Xicang Bridge

Xicang Bridge is located south of Xicangqiao Village, Taozhuang Town, Xuecheng District, spanning the Panlong River. Originally built during the Tang Dynasty, it is a multi-arch stone bridge constructed from bluestone. The bridge is 60 meters long with five arches, each arch standing 7 meters high and spanning 8 meters. The base of the bridge is 11 meters wide. The arch rings were built using the parallel masonry technique, and water-dividing walls were constructed on the water-facing side between the arches, standing 4.5 meters high. Each wall features a water-dividing beast lying atop it. A pair of stone lions stands guard at each end of the bridge, still looking majestic and lifelike. The railings on both sides of the bridge have been destroyed.

The area is rich in mineral resources. Coal mining has taken place here since the Yuan and Ming dynasties. In 1920, the Zhongxing Company began mining operations here and constructed a dedicated railway line for transport. As a result, Taozhuang earned the nickname “Little Kiln” and became one of the first two officially established towns in Zaozhuang City.
