The Niu Shan Sun Clan Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.

Niu Shan Sun Clan Ancestral Hall

Located in Niu Shan Village, Zhouying Town. The ancestors of the Sun clan migrated to this area from Pingyang, Shanxi during the Yongle era, nearly 500 years ago. The ancestral hall was first built in the first year of the Hongzhi reign of the Ming Dynasty (1488), initially as a thatched cottage. In the 47th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1708), it was renovated into a temple when the first family genealogy was compiled, and in the 23rd year of the Daoguang reign (1843), after the fourth compilation of the genealogy, a large-scale ancestral hall was newly built. It was renovated with funds raised by the Sun clan in 1990 and 2005. It is one of the more intact and sizable architectural complexes from the late Ming and early Qing periods preserved in southern Shandong and even northern Jiangsu. It has been rated as a key cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.
