Yangyu Scenic Area

Located south of Daxiangcheng Village in Zhangfan Town, its highest peak is Zhaishan Mountain, which stands at an elevation of 358.9 meters. Originally named “Laohuangya” and also known as “Huangya Mountain Fortress” (the name comes from the legend that Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, once lived in the Chaoyang Cave halfway up the mountain while begging as a child). The summit of Zhaishan is flat and the terrain is open, with remnants of ancient fortress walls, artillery emplacements, stone houses, and other architectural ruins. It offers the best vantage points to view Weishan Lake and Niangniang Tomb, and is the main development area of the Yangyu Scenic Area. The mountain is covered with huge, peculiar, and oddly shaped rocks, featuring countless stone sheds, caves, and pillars. Among the peaks, bare rocks and uniquely shaped stones stand in great numbers, creating a spectacular and otherworldly karst landscape reminiscent of a stone forest in a dry sea. Major attractions include the General Platform, Old Spring, Chaoyang Cave, and Lying Sheep Beach.
