Xuecheng Panlong Lake

Panlong Lake (Xicang Plain Reservoir) Panlong Lake is located in the northwest of Xuecheng District, north of the intersection between the Beijing-Shanghai Railway and the Zaozhuang-Linyi Railway. It was formed by excavating, impounding, and gathering water from the Panlong River flood detention area, and serves as a key component of the “Five Rivers, Four Lakes, Three Islands” urban water system landscape plan. Covering a total area of 15,000 mu, including a water surface area of 6,000 mu, it is divided into 12 individual development zones comprising “two cores, two nuclei, two axes, two belts, and four sections,” along with six major functional areas (core recreation zone, ecological sightseeing zone, folk culture sightseeing zone, amusement zone, tourism handicraft experience zone, and central service zone). A total of 5,000 mu of water surface has been excavated, three core scenic islands have been constructed, and a 36,000-meter-long riverside landscape belt along the Panlong River and a lakeside scenic boulevard have been built. The area also includes 500,000 square meters of commercial districts and high-end villa zones that integrate elements such as dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment, as well as an 8-million-square-meter waterfront ecological greening landscape area featuring the unique charm of a northern water town. The location is close to the urban area, enjoys significant geographical advantages, and benefits from convenient transportation. It serves as the main body of Xuecheng’s urban landscape structure and the new eco-tourism resort district of southern Shandong.
