Railway Guerrillas Film and Television City

The Railway Guerrillas Film and Television City is an ideal destination for both tourism and filming. The film city was initiated by the Xuecheng District Committee and District Government to support the production of the large-scale classic red-themed TV series “Railway Guerrillas.” It was creatively designed and planned by the Shandong Film and Television Production Center and Zaozhuang TV Station, approved by the Zaozhuang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and jointly invested in by the Xuecheng District People’s Government and the Zaozhuang Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television. The construction of the film city is divided into three phases. Currently, only Phase I is open to the public, while Phases II and III are still under construction.

The first phase was built to meet the scene requirements of the classic red-themed TV series “Railway Guerrillas.” Built against the mountains, structures such as “Nanxuzi,” “Barracks,” “Zaozhuang Dongsheng Martial Arts School,” “Tea House,” “Pigeon Building,” “Deshunxing Pharmacy,” “West Gate,” “Sanxing Tower,” “Zhengtai International Trading Company,” “Wanfu Building,” “Taishi Mansion,” “Dadong Hotel,” “Yihuo Charcoal Factory,” “Tongle Theater,” “Luoziyuan,” “Watchtower,” and “Grand Archway” feature distinct architectural styles from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period, recreating the historical ambiance of old Zaozhuang.

The planning and design work for Phases II and III has been completed. These phases will mainly include a mountain-surrounding railway, a steam locomotive, miniature versions of Zaozhuang, Zouwu, Lincheng, and Shagou stations, along with scattered government offices, schools, hospitals, guildhalls, banks, and pawnshops in the ancient town. The town meanders with old streets, sloping alleys, small bridges over flowing water, and numerous shops, all showcasing a rich cultural heritage, resembling a vivid folk painting of southern Shandong. At the same time, the “Railway Guerrillas Memorial Hall” will be established, offering a glimpse into the unique war culture. Once completed, it will become the largest film city in China featuring late Qing and early Republican architecture, as well as a national patriotic education base. With its distinctive style, grand scale, and comprehensive services, it will attract tourists from home and abroad, standing out as a beautiful highlight among the top hundred cultural tours in China and a shining pearl among national film and television shooting bases.
