Guan Ying Square

The Guan Ying Square project is a key municipal government initiative, located among the seven major cultural squares. It sits at the intersection of Yanjiang South Avenue and Yingbin Avenue, opposite the General’s Ferry.

The project site spans 19,879 square meters, with a total building area of 11,054 square meters and green space covering 8,825 square meters. Construction commenced in July 2002, with completion scheduled for December 2003. The total investment was 11 million yuan, all funded by the municipal government's budget. The centerpiece is the Guan Ying City Gate Tower, with a building area of approximately 1,390 square meters, divided into a base platform and the structure above. The gate tower is constructed entirely from reinforced concrete in a classical Chinese architectural style. Other features include a moat, fountain lighting, a group sculpture of Guan Ying, water supply and drainage systems, landscaping, square paving, and auxiliary garden leisure facilities.

Upon completion, Guan Ying Square forms a visual and functional counterpart to the central plaza of Xianghu Lake Scenic Area, creating a green leisure zone in the southwest of the city. It serves as a gathering place for nearby residents to relax and enjoy recreational activities, improving the urban living environment and playing a significant role in Nanchang’s development into a garden city.
