Hungary to implement 100-person working holiday quota in June

Another country joins the working holiday abroad program. Taiwan’s Representative to Hungary, Kao Ching-yun, and the Representative of the Hungarian Trade Office, Levente Székely, recently signed a “Working Holiday Program Agreement” between the two countries. This

Hungary is the first Central European country and the fifth in Europe and tenth globally to sign a similar agreement with us. Once the program is implemented, our two countries will each offer 100 annual quotas for working holiday visas, valid for one year, to eligible applicants aged 18 to 35.

 

Hungary is a landlocked Central European country with a population of about 10 million and an area of over 93,000 square kilometers. Its official language is Hungarian. Since its democratic reforms in 1989, Hungary has established a multi-party democratic system and joined the European Union in 2004. It is also a member of international organizations and agreements such as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Schengen Agreement, and the Visegrád Group.

 

Geographically, Hungary borders seven countries: Slovakia to the north, Ukraine and Romania to the east, Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia to the south, and Austria to the west. Not only is Hungary conveniently located for travel to other European nations, but it also boasts rich traditional European culture, with distinctive architecture, music, literature, and cuisine. Hungary attracts over ten million tourists annually, especially its capital Budapest, an internationally renowned twin-city graced by the scenic Danube River, making it a highly popular world-class tourist destination.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds young people interested in the Hungary working holiday program that once the Taiwan-Hungary working holiday program is officially launched and visa applications are approved, it is essential to prepare thoroughly before departure. Additionally, participants should abide by local laws, pay attention to personal safety during their stay, and promptly contact the Taiwanese Representative Office in Hungary in case of emergencies.
